Re: hot bite on the pile
when it rains it pours,
had all intentions of running out to the pile but only made it out to the bridge. motor started running rough and then started to clang. limped it back to the dock, put it on the trailer and headed home. pulled the head off and number three cylinder exhaust valve was broke. so i need a new valve, piston and rings. what next? oh well, it's the end of the season for me i guess. got all winter to get it fixed.

Re: hot bite on the pile
Infinity.....I feel your pain, I had the same thing happen earlier this summer at Newport. However, I got lucky, caught it before the valve broke, only had to replace the valves.
What kind of motor are we talking about, outboard or inboard?
Sorry to here that , hope its repairable.

Re: hot bite on the pile
hey twb,
the motor is a volvo penta aq130d. i don't think it's as bad as i thought it was. i had a guy come by the house today and look at it. the cylinder didn't get scored at all but the top of the piston suffered a few dings, no holes though. so i've got already got a new valve and head-gasket for it so maybe it will be back in operation tomorrow. i can only hope. if it works, look out nookers, here i come
