I had ordered that one and kept it for about a day and decided it was just too small. I swapped it for their compact 15-30-50mm model. For the $50 more and i think 6 oz. it weighs more its not a bad set-up if you do any backpack hunting which is why I got it. Optics are pretty good I think, field of view is kinda small but so are all spotting scopes. I've found that a good pair of binocs works about as good as a spotter - not always but if weight is an issue for DIY backpack type hunts then maybe a really good binoc is 90% as good.

I picked one up a few years ago and just haven't used it. Binoculars are better than it. I also have a 12-40x60 gold ring spotting scope which defiantly has its place.

I don't have the 10x20 but I bought the 15-30x50 compact early this year. Coupled with a light weight tripod and I am very happy. Just right for the pack. So far no problems. Wheels.

Yes I have one; I've only used it as a handheld, not on a tripod.

It has its place; I tend to take it along with a pair of 10x28 binoculars when going super-lightweight w/o a day pack. I've used it to determine the legality of buck while hunting in a 3-point minimum area (where an inch-long eyeguard is a valid point).

Intended use should factor into the decision-making process.

I looked at one of the 15-30X 50mm Leupold Compact spotting scopes at the last gun show and was really impressed. The scope did not have a tripod mount. Is the tripod model a different scope or does an adaptor come with the scope??

The adapter comes with the scope. I had one and gave it to my Dad. Not because I didn't like it, just because he liked it more than I did. I think it is a great little scope for the $ (the 15-30, I personnally wouldn't have a use for the 10-20x)
