Default Due Cut Throat = Steelhead?...

Just curious if anyone knew if cut throat trout were actually adolescent steelhead ranging into coastal rivers/estuaries. It makes sense but I wasn't sure.

Cutthroat are different from steelhead. Steelhead are Onchorynchus Mykiss. Cutthroat are Salmo Clarki Clarki. Different life history, different genetics, different species.

But a hybrid still wouldn't be a steelhead.

I guess I missed the bulletin  I knew steelhead had been reclassified. And I did know there are hybrids, but they're rare in the wild.

I'm not sure if this link is allowed, but I have no affiliation with the merchant whatsoever. Buy it from your local bookstore. This is a GREAT book.

If they're Hybrids... would they be Cutheads or
Steelthroats?

phishin phil is right. searun cutthroats are bluebacks, they can get pretty big, but usually not. searun rainbows are steelhead. i caught a blueback in cape creek (lane Co) by devil's elbow, that went over 5 pounds about 20 years ago.
