Default Thurs weather report from Depoe / Marty

Marty just called me on the cell phone. He's sitting in the truck at Gov't Pt. Says it's absolutely flat calm close in, sun is out, he can see whales, and even some bait balls with birds on them. He sees Nancy heading out too.

But remember, NOAA says it's gonna blow later today!!!

This "rub it in" weather report brought to you by frustrated i-fishers.

Well ya know Mark, when Marty called me I was trapped in my cubicle too. But Marty wasn't happy about what he saw, because he couldn't go fishing. So what is worse, hearing about this in your cube, or seeing it with your own eyes but can't go out?

It is about as good of ocean as I have seen this year.....grrrr.......

When they said 25kt winds, and3 ft wind waves,,,and 7 ft swells......I didn't think it would be 5kt, and 2.6

I would like to hit the pile tomorrow??????????

Today's ifish/NOAA forecast, Cascade Head to Florence, out 60 miles:

A moderately strong tuna front is approaching from the south, with scattered tuna boils expected along the 1000 fathom line. High pressure will continue to build. Large ocean sunfish are expected to be sunning themselves randomly near upwellings. Mariners should exercise caution around these areas.

Recent observations from the 46blitz01 non-stationary buoy report larger than normal tuna sighted west of Newport. Telemetry is down; we are still waiting for confirmed position of 46blitz01.

Light morning winds and a slow northerly current are expected within 20 miles, producing ideal salmon mooching conditions in 30 to 50 fathoms. Mariners are advised to fish NW of their home ports, due to expected increasing northwesterly winds.

Herring tides for Yaquina Bay are currently less than ideal. Mariners should wait 7 to 10 days before attempting serious herring fishing.
