Default Mixed Bag Success

Took one of the boys out for a float on Tuesday and had a great day. My understanding wife let us clean the birds in the house.....the garage was COLD!!!! We ended up with eight different species for the day. It was also the first time I have harvested a white front in western Oregon. I hope the cold sticks around through part of Christmas break to get the kids out again.

Yes, Those are specks.....Three of them. I have hunted 30+ years for waterfowl in western Oregon and those are the only ones I have even shot at West of the Cascades. I hope the weather holds.....I like it.
Here is my youngest checking out the take.

Bill,

The boys are already planning on how to maximize time in the woods this Spring between baseball practice and games. Should be fun. We should have some sheds to pick up first however.

I am probably ahead of you on the sheds so far...Found some dandy bull sheds a couple weeks ago...

I am going to hunt bear with the recurve during April...I already have a plan and a spot that I think I can get one into recurve range using a treestand...If I don't have one killed by April, back to the gun...After April the feed starts getting everywhere and my plan won't work so well..

Looking forward to your spring bear pics and stories this year..

Seriously, you aren't going to EAT those are you???
LOL

later

Of course we plan on eating them. We cut the meat off of the breast, thighs, and legs marinate them and smoke to perfection. They make great jerky. Nice sheds too Bill. Wish we had elk wintering a little closer to us.
