Saturday and sunday tide changes
Just looked at the tides off the Columbia for Saturday and sunday. Saturday is barely a 1 ft exchange from 5.5 ft down to 4.49 ft. Weird aye? Sunday run off is from 5.94 down to 4.01 ft. Is'nt this a bit unusual? Guess I really had'nt paid much attention this summer but this seems like the least exchange I have seen for awhile.
If the weather cooperates for me Saturday I will be picking up "Cindy Lou" from the motor doctor and give her a go. Want to give her a decent run in the river before I take her outside. Not really liking the weather report for those two days at this point but hopefully the winds will calm down and the ocean will too.
BTW, anyone fish the ocean or river this week down in the estuary? Sure would like a report.

Re: Saturday and sunday tide changes
The ocean has been spotty. Most of the boats in the lower river were around Hammond or up at the bridge.
Activity is clearly slowing down.

Re: Saturday and sunday tide changes
You're overlooking the flood from the low at 3 am on Friday at .8' to the high at 10 am Saturday at 5.4' for a 4.6' exchange on the incoming.
The first light flood is generally a good producer in the river. The small outgoing exchange Saturday afternoon at about a 1 knot flow means to me that the fish that come in on the morning flood will stick around longer, you can troll both up and down current and the bar should be relatively quiet (except for the 8' swell and 4' wind waves predicted). All in all, I think it bodes well for this weekend (possibly the last weekend) for Astoria and salmon. I'll be there.

Re: Saturday and sunday tide changes
Saw those nice ocean predictions too. Most likely stay inside and fish the Hammond area for awhile. Just gotta run the boat and make sure they got the bugs out of her. See ya there on Saturday.

Re: Saturday and sunday tide changes
Fished Saturday in the Ocean and there was a good bite early and than it died and the wind came up and we went inside. Got 5 total out of six, 3 inside, 2 outside and several with fins. Weather is a little dicey outside this weekend. Give me a hollar on 13 CB or 69 VHF. See you there

Re: Saturday and sunday tide changes
We fished the ocean south on Sunday, got or fish 7.25 miles off 2SJ 210 degrees by 8:30 AM. Monday, we went just inside and south of 1, ended up at 1 caught larger fish, more natives, 3 of the biggest silvers I have ever seen, (natives) and 1 keeper, 1 King 6 total both days, north had larger fish and more natives. Max ebb was 7:00 and 7:30 so we left early, Monday we saw the 8' bar waves, was much smoother on the north side.
Good Luck.

Re: Saturday and sunday tide changes
C&E,
I picked up my fishing partners at Tigard at 6AM this morning, drove to Hammond, got bait, and launched about 9AM. The tide was at about max ebb, so I ran up above the bridge on the Washington side. Ran way up and started making passes down stream. Finished with the last fish at 12 noon. 9 coho. Never got to the flood tide.
With the small water change the fish were active throughout the ebb. Nice weather, not very many boats, I didn't see any need to go to the ocean, if you wan't coho.
Hope this helps, good luck.
Jerry

Re: Saturday and sunday tide changes
Thanks for the reports guys. TWB sounds like a great day of fishing down there. Any time you're done by noon is awesome. That means you might get to take a little nap before dinner. Way to go!
