Default Siletz Steelhead

Don't know if any of you salty dogs also fish the rivers, but the Siletz is going off right. Fished there last saturday and my buddy and I each caught two steelhead in a couple hours of fishing. I also hooked a chinook. What's more, we also saw 20-25 steelhead while fishing around moonshine park. Fish were everywhere! It was cool. I have never seen that many steelhead while fishing in a river. We were using flies, but a buddy fishing with spinners also did well. Contact me if anyone is interested in more info.
Also, chantrelles aren't out yet in big numbers. Went out yesterday and only got a dozen...this was at a spot where I usually get a 5 gallon bucket. Probably after this rain.

Not sure if there is a secret. I fish moonshine park area during the week and then fish above the gate during the weekend (Plum Creek closes the road during the week). When the water is low and warm, I fish flies (An egg-sucking leach with a egg fly dropper). When the water is up I fish corkies and eggs under a bobber. Fish the heads of pools and tailouts, but also fish the fast spots of pocket water with big boulders...the steelhead like to hang in these spots during this time of year (I think the big nookies chase them out of the pools). Spinners also work well, casting them across the stream and swinging them down. This is the time to get out there for these summer steelhead are bity and are still pretty bright...plus there are a lot of hatchery fish to wack!!!
