Farewell Bend Information
I am looking at camping at Farewell Bend and fishing the Snake River in mid July. Any information would be appreciated. Is July to hot? Is the water level to low to put in a boat? Is fishing good? etc.

Re: Farewell Bend Information
You can get catfish at this time, but I would avoid July and the first half of August. It is too hot. If you can get there in June, great. Otherwise, just be ready for heat and do your fishing early and late. You'll get catfish if nothing else.

Re: Farewell Bend Information
Mid-July will be hot, probably in the 90's. Water level should be ok for launching but usually dropping at that time. Fishing should be good, especially for catfish. I spend my time downriver out of the Powder Arm so maybe some others guys can help you out better.

100 degrees in the day, cools off to 90 degrees at night. All the dead carp on the bank make up for the cool temperatures with a pleasing aroma. Nice campground though.

Re: Farewell Bend Information
Memorial Day weekend was always a nice time there. Good weather, we would sleep in extra long in the morings and fish all night. Caught hundreds of Crappie, Catfish and Small mouth.
We always fished off the bank, never had a boat then.
We also always stayed in the overflow camping area. Much more open and park like.
Fond memories
Dan

Re: Farewell Bend Information
if I remember correctly there really isnt any shade or tree coveraqe at farewell . so even 85-90 would get old after a while. hope you got a cover on your boat or a lot of sunscreen . lots of mesquitos as well . someone told me that the camping conditions are pretty good at oxbow ,less bugs and lots of shade to relax when needed. a few years back we stayed at farewell for a week, it was August and hotttttttt, we caught several cats 2-3 lbs was common and a few nice ones here and there , trying several baits..They really seemed to love the trout we threw at em. have fun and post some picks..

Except everybody else is there on memorial weekend also, some years it's tough to find a place to camp, May is a great time for Brownlee, but you should go before or after memorial weekend if you can, before if you want Crappie, & Bass, after if you want Catfish.
