There is not that much close to home for me in the potland area. I do know a few places, they are not tryed and true go to hot spots. The weather plays a big part in some areas, some places that I used to hunt are now closed down.
I will make you a deal, you do the leg work in your area and we can swap some hunts, I would say that is a fair way to do things .

Re: Public Ground
Just an FYI, GOOD public hunting spots are tough to find for waterfowl. Not many guys are going to post up a spot on the internet where anyone can find out about it and show up. get some binoculars and some gas money and start looking. there are several greenways along the willamete that hold birds.

Re: Public Ground
I get it most public grounds are little pot holes people keep secret, SI is the only real area with huge amounts of acreage

Re: Public Ground
Dude, there is a river that runs right past your town.
Also you could contact ODFW for other public hunting lands in your area.

Hey there impatient. If you are going to hunt the river, you need a boat. If you don't have a boat, it's pretty tough.
With a small boat you could put in at Wheatland and drift/float to St Paul. It's an adventure. And how just about everyone learns.
With a boat you can scout and explore. If you are exploring and you flush a bunch of ducks, it might be a good place to set up.
Or just remember until you see a pattern...dude.

Shallow areas of back water off the main river. Try to keep the wind at your back and shoot them when they put their feet down to land.
