Scope ideas for a Ruger m77 m2 243 compact?
Just bought the little woman and daughter a new Ruger m77 m2 243 for christmas, wondering what a good match for that rifle would be? Im planning on getting one mounted and start them shooting after new years. I sure as heck cant get a deer, might as well let them! Thanks

A Leupold ultralight would work if you want to keep the weight down, and it would match up with that rifle great. Thats just one option. Anything bigger than a 40mm tube would look like a stanly thermos on that gun imo.

Is that the 16" Ruger? Might check one of my favorites the Leupold 1X4 Lightweight and the 1x gives excellent view NOW. Great confidence boosting scope.

I would suggest Leupold ultralight vxII 3X9X33. I have one. It is exceptionally clear and bright (you couldn't tell it from a 40mm), and the 9 power fits the relatively long range of that 243. And it's small.

I would put a 1.75x6 VXIII Leupold on it. I think that physical size scope would work great on there. They are on sale right now for $305.

You might want to take a look at Pride Fowler Ranging Reticle 600-2 Compact. It's got BDC out to 600 yards with impact points well detailed on the reticle. I have one on for a 22lr and love it. Overbuilt/well made units/good glass.

My wife has the exact Ruger/Leupold combo, but I don't buy the 200 yard limit. I have seen it in action.

a fixed power scope like the weaver k4x38 or the leupold fx-2 4x36 is the perfect type of scope for compact rifles used by inexperienced hunters. keep it simple and success is easy. plus they are just plain good scopes

I agree, fixed power is a good way to go for new hunters. Then make sure they have bino's for glassing.

Your money? Leupold.
My money? Burris or Nikon.
I am shopping for a .243 and will top it with http://www.swfa.com/pc-12481-2177-bu...fle-scope.aspx

I do see in a flyer I get in the mail that there is an Illuminated dot circle made by Millett 1-4X For $229 might be a good one. 30mm also I think.
