Willamette Fishing report.
I thought i would start a forum, dedicated to JUST fishing the wilamette river.
How are guys doing in the lower wilamette (Sellwood bridge- Oregon city?), Im the guy in the Zodiac, if you see a white zodiac rig with a yamaha outboard, shout out.. btw Im always out fishing alone, if anyone wants to go fishin, it would be chill to have a buddy onboard.
Tight lines...

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
We fished the Willy for gators yesterday from 0700-1530. Launched out of Cathedral Park. Touched quite a few shakers, but no keepers. The guy anchored next to us brought in a 46"! Slow day for keepers, but fun day for catching with all the shakers around! Too bad i'm still a keeper virgin though :depressed:
MAN, was there a TON if crap floating in the river though!!!!! We dodged logs, sticks, and debris all day long!!!! Good thing there wasn't a ton of current, because we had one log about 15' long and 25" in diameter crawl up on our anchor rope and flipped us sideways till we could get it off!!

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
Jokester;
I have seen alot of crap coming down the willamette too. The last few times ive been on that river; motoring upriver i had to dodge a few logs and numerous debris. it blows to have to deal with all the crap in the river in a beautiful morning, when the water is all glassy. As for Sturgeon fishing, i havent reallt tried it in the willamette, how is the river between lakeoswego creek- the meldrum bar? is that a good stretch of the river to fish? Ive seen a few huge fish jumping, must've been sturgeon. Also what is the name of that boat ramp thats right upriver from the sellwood bridge on the east side of the river? And how do you get there? It looks like a single launch boat ramp.
Tight lines, Dylan

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
Zodiac...There's some god sturgie water between Cedar Oak Island and the Sellwood Bridge. Lotsa deep water...some spots almost 150' if that's what turns you on.
The ramp you're speaking of is the Oak Grove ramp...at the bottom end of Oak Grove Blvd. Not a good place to launch unless nobody's out, or you're the first one or two in, as there's not a whole lot of parking there. Works tho when traffic is light. Use the slab ramp(downriver side), and not the main one as the main one is an axle eater.
If it were me..I'd just launch at Milwaukie.

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
Mark,
Do you know how to get to Oak Grove Blvrd? from Ne Portland? I assume its right off of mclaughlin blvrd. I have a zodiac so i wouldnt be having a trailor, Which helps in parking situatuions.
Tight Lines,
Dylan

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
Heading south on Mcloughlin Blvd.,h Hang a right turn off Mcloughlin Blvd. where the Oak Grove Fred Meyer's store is...follow the road til it T's...go right, then take the first left through beautiful downtown Oak Grove. You'll hit a stop sign at River Road. Go straight ahead across River Road....and follow down the hill. If you keep going forward you'll drive right into the river.

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
Skunked today dredging for sturgeon, but for this one condom (!) that came up wrapped around my weight. Briefly considered slipping it onto the mackerel for all the good it was doing, but instead got it into the garbage bag without actual contact. Those turds are looking pretty good by comparsion now, eh?

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
ZF,
I wouldn't waste my time if I were you on the OAK GRove ramp it's preaty much like a ramp for the locals who live nearby and can walk from parking at home. Because the Parking is very, minimal unless your early or lucky. Milw. is much nicer launch and good parking unless its the middle of Springer Time. Just around the bend from there is L.O. My 2 cents.

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
Zodiac ... were you out on Sunday around Sellwood. We were at Sellwood Sunday morning, 18'Striper with the rottweiler aboard. There was a white smaller Zodiac there by the Waverly boathouses. We pulled herring down the channels, both sides of the river at Sellwood and did a pass at the green can. Meter'd some fish on the fish finder but wouldn't take our offering. Did not see anything caught. The boat ramp referenced about in Oak Grove is good for the inflatiable but you have to courteous to the neighbors when parking. I've done some survey's along there, good place for theives to dump stolen cars in the river.
... last post on the "Willamette Jellyfish", that cracked me up, can't wait to share that one around the water cooler.

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
WallyW, if you want to fish the Oregon City area there is a boat ramp and RV park at Clackamette Park. It has hook-ups and a dump station. The boat ramp is in the Clackamas River just above where it runs into the Willy. There is also a boat ramp downriver a mile or so at Meldrum Bar Park that you could use. You could fish from the falls down river as far as you care to go.
Prawns, spinners, eggs W/sandshrimp, and quickfish all seem to work in this area. Hoglines, trolling, or backbouncing all work.

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
WW: If you want a little more solitude than OC and a more scenic area go down to Bayport at Warren, OR on Hwy 30. I'm sure they have RV space there. Easy place to fish. Troll using a wire spreader, 24-30" lead line, 4-5 oz lead and a herring w/a killer roll. You can even make a short run out into the Columbia from there and fish the same way. Plenty of places to anchor and fish Kwikfish too. Watch the Multnomah Channel reports on this website and when the visibility improves fish the slough. Visibility in the CR is reasonably good now, but its still early. Wait till the fishing reports heat up!

Re: Willamette Fishing report.
Hi to everyone. This is my very first post and wanted to quit snoopin and actually put my .02 in once in a while.
I'm told by David Johnson (my best friend) to write a story. If this is a good a place as any let me know. I have plenty of good stories about Johnson and a few funny ones too. Finally got a new sled last year and have a few fun times to share also.

Hmmmmm, Ain't the Willie Interesting!
Just think if there are people all over the nation peering in on this board and checking out what we're saying about our river. although nasty and poluted, it sure does had an abundance of different types of fish! We're thankful for that.
Just not a big fan of those glowing bass/sturgeon/salmon/steehead/catfish/walleye/trout/*********/lamprey/stripers/...did i cover them all?
