Default My wife...sometimes, I wonder

You'd think after all these years, she'd get it.

Our lab (and my regular huntin' buddy) lost his collar recently--I think it's on the bottom of Sturgeon Lake, or maybe in the trees bordering it. Anyway, so I ask her to buy a new collar and tag from Petco on her way home last night.

The collar is pink. The tag is iridescent rainbow.

I got it out of the bag today and the dog--he looked at me, raised his head in the air, and walked out of the room.

I'm not sure whether she was trying to:

a) sabotage our hunting,
b) telling me that I should buy the collar since I lost it,
c) thought it was a funny joke, or
d) was clueless.

I should start a poll.

Be careful when returning it, you don't want to end up here:

Or maybe you can send her there!

You know, that's possible. She usually either goes for lace or black leather, but maybe her mood has changed.

Wise advice from Richard!
Not to worry Rob, I keep an extra collar in the truck that Vader can borrow. Your wife appears to already have picked hers.

I don't know, but I think the collar will go well with the pink gun a certain friend of ours has

Not taking sides but being married 24 yrs I have learned quit a bit.

It may be your own fault.

Possible you were not specific enough. You left the choice up to her.

Right or wrong. I am not going there.Sorry bro cant side.Just tryin to help you eliminate future MISUNDERSTANDINGS.....

But just to share.I have a NO PINK rule in my house.Every relationship has bounderies. The only issue I have ever had reguarding pink was when she did something with the laundrey and all my underware well turned pink.I politly asked her to go to the store and replace what she had ummmmmmm altered to a color of my disliking.Thank goodness stores stay open till 11.

I am guessing you have a ***** dog, and your wife while doing her due diligence as millions of other women while they shop, bought it because "it's cute"......oh if I had a nickel for every time my wife uttered those dreadful words. Function takes a backseat to fashion all day long. Now do your due diligence and get your bestfriend a 1 1/2" proper leather collar.

My wife wants to know if your lab is a female. She was thinking your wife might be trying to girlie up your dog.

How do you know you have been paying more attention to your dog than your wife. When she buys your dog a pink collar and rainbow tag.

I think your wife has a real good sense of humor!

1) Tell your wife how great the new collar looks.

2) Apologize for not being specific.

3) Then explain to your wife that the dog needs a special "work" collar for hunting.

4) Send her back to the store.

Drum roll please.....

The answer is "B". Yes, this is ogrejager's wife, and I guess I should give some explanation since my wonderful hubby has made an issue of this. Vader (our yellow lab) is a regular Houdini at getting rid of his collar. I've bought him three recently, some he's lost and some haven't fit him because I've gone to the store with our English mastiff in mind -- as in, buy the biggest collar you've got!!! And yes, all the previous collars have been in black or camo. See, I'm not such a bad hunter's wife!!

So, fast forward to last weekend when I bought the "pink" collar. First of all, it was RED, and if any of you know my hubby, you also know he is somewhat colorblind. So, I'm at PetCo, I have the mastiff to meet Santa, (Santa didn't show) and figured while I was there I'd get a collar for Vader and picked the only one available to me while my mastiff dragged me through the store. Hell, Vader would lose it soon anyway, right?!

Hmmn, maybe my Honey would look cute in a little RED collar...

There's 2 answers to this--I'll give you both just for fun.

1. Actually, he's named after the town in Washington along I-5. We picked him up as a pup in the Seattle area and were driving home discussing what to name him. We drove past Vader, WA and both said, "Okay, that's great. That's his name."

2. Come on! What did you ever see Vader wear that was pink? Blue? No, goshdarnit! Vader wears BLACK!

As a completely unrelated side, our next lab will probably be named, "Chewy." But that's totally a reference to how much puppies chew on things, not Star Wars. Just like Vader was named after the town in WA.
