TUNA! trip Sunday Winchester Bay

Planning on a TUNA! run Sunday out of Winchester Bay. The weather forecast for the south coast looks a lot better than the north coast. The warm water is almost due west of Winchester bay. Tide change is only 3', or if in after 15:30 to hit the incoming. Lots of interesting structure there, one area changes 2000' in 2.5 miles. This will be my first trip from Windy bay for TUNA!

Thanks for the reply to my post asking about tuna at Coos. I was wondering how you did out of Winchester on Sunday. We spotted a good break off Ft. Bragg and went in my boat on Saturday. When we finally dialed in on the hot bite we were 52 nm out of Bragg and only 62 out of Eureka, so thats probably 35-40 on a 270 off Shelter Cove. We ended up with 17 fat Alberts. I dropped off 5 fish at Dick and Casey's cannery in Brookings and the weight was 126. There is a good little break right now off Trinidad - probably also reachable from Crescent City, but the ocean is completely vertical for the weekend. . . standing by.

We only picked up 4 fish, about 25 miles out. Average weight was 27.5lbs. We did see a pod of 5 killer whales :smile:
