LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
Just got off the phone with Mike....60 Tuna! Trolling back, still hookin' fish!
44.52N
124.39W
Close baby! Close!
EDIT: I just loaded updated charts on my Nobeltec Software here at work, and was just looking at this spot. It now shows a "Dangerous Wreck in this location, depth unknown" just about 1/2 mile due east from those coordinates. Just an FYI for you guys...Don't really know what it might mean.

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
WooHoo!
Looks like I will owe all the tuna dancers and a special thanks to Bruce and Mike for the report. That is about where I was hoping to start trolling. Maybe it would pay to start even closer! Love the look of the morning. Now for the 3:30 and 9:30 reports to soften or hold and I will smile while I fall asleep!

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
I am in for sure with two extra on the boat. I am going to go buy a 13 gal extra tank that I am going to measure to make sure it fits up front. I am very excited about the run tomorrow! I might even try to stay for the next few days to get some chickens and ling and nookie and lkajasfduh overload-can't think straight-must get fix-well that settles it I am going out on the columbia and hook up with some nook tonight. That way maybe I will be able to sleep otherwise I will be pacing all night in anticipation! Some of you may think I am kidding but seriously I am going to have a hard time sleeping tonight no matter what.

For those of us stuck at work without our GPS, how many miles out are we talking?

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
Phil-
31(?) miles off Depoe. That's real close to the spot we call "61 Degrees".
Hmmm, the Saturday plans may change...

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
Phil ( & NorRiver), it's even closer. For a close estimate, at our location each minute west is 0.7 nm. Depoe is at about 124 03 x 44 48. His numbers 124 39 that's about 36 minutes west, 36 x 0.7 = 25 miles west. Then each minute north is a nm, only 4 min north to 44 52 but it's a long skinny triangle so fudge it and add a mile call it 26 miles. Or you can do it by a^2 + b^2 = c^2.

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
Pretty darn close Mark. I have the Nobeltec Software and the range from those coordinates is 24.8 nautical miles from the Fl R 4s Bell at Depoe Bay. Those fish are a lot closer than the SST would have you believe.
That wreck is sitting on the bottom at an estimated 1241 feet. Just raise the downriggers a little when you go over it and you should be fine!

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
Sounds like it should be a good time tomorrow from the sounds of things. Thanks Bruce for the report from Blitz. That's pretty well the area I was intending on hitting tomorrow anyway...just confirms my plans a bit more now.
I'm not sure what wreck is in that area. The area known as The Tug is inside of there, about the same distance north, but way inside. About 13 miles out from Depoe Bay. It's actually a decent Bottom fishing spot.

Forcast is looking GOOD as well.
I just got home from work....have a couple of things to do in final prepping, and will be good to go tomorrow morning. I'll be down at the boat by 05:30am. It sounds like a bunch of ya'll are heading down tonight. Will be good to see ya in the am.
Terrafin hasn't posted an SST for today yet. Will check that tonight before I head to bed, and make any final adjustments if needed from there.
Crambone - I hope that your arms are feeling extra strong!!

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
Wildhawg!!!!
Where were you earlier? You could have come with me except now I filled the spot! I could have used your experience! Trust me, I am safe you could have given me a call and you could have found out for yourself. Oh well, maybe I will go out Friday too. It is just a lot of fuel to use and run back to P-town and then do it the next day too. I guess I will decide tomorrow! Sorry wildh. I would have taken you if you would have accepted the ride. It is reasonable comfortable ride in my boat!

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
That's life--it's not like I can't find things to do around here--but TUNA! is one of those distractions that makesme forget my responsibilities
Thanks though--maybe we can make it happen before it's all over!
Charlie.

Re: LIVE REPORT from the Blitz
FYI for all going tomorrow. There are fish everywhere! I put in six miles east of the spot where I found the mother lode and had four fish on within 30 seconds. Only caught a fish here and one there after the first assault. Headed for this spot which is real close to the 61 degree spot. Birds everywhere and fish boils and bait and carnage and seven fish on at once several times and....and....and..... I want to go again! But alas, I have engine repair work so you all go get em!! Good luck!!

How will they ever manage????
The truth is, How will I ever manage???? I'll be working and they'll be catching fish.

Heya Tady
Just got back from visiting my folks down south...Lotsa yellows under paddies below San Clemente,,,,,Albies and bluefin were way outside,, over 90 miles so we opted to go just to Catalina..With a couple scoops of "cured" sardines we hammered the big calicos in the weeds..I haven't done that in 20 yrs..Boy whatta blast...Hey good luck on your upcoming albie trip..Looks like they might hang around for awhile..............
