New Baby B Haven
I just bought this 26 Tolly FB Sedan on e-Bay last week for a steal. Of course it was sold as-is and the joke could still be on me, but everything appears to be OK so far. Havn't tried it in the water yet and won't till spring as it needs some equipment added to be made ocean ready.I did run the engine on the trailer with a garden hose plumbed to the seawater pump and it runs very well. It is soon to be placed on stands in Garibaldi to be a winter outfitting project. Sure hope I don't turn out to be stupid.

Re: New Baby B Haven
Somthing looks realy fishy about that boat. Tender care and adorning her with jewels (electronics etc.) and she will reward you with much pleasure. Have many happy hours of preping.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">Ray, You stated the true bottom line of all this.
Unfortunately in order to fund this project I will be forced to downsize my fleet of Tollycrafts by a whopping 50%. Of course I will have to finish the engine rebuild on Tolly #1 before it goes to market.
I even thought of putting large outriggers and a reel at the stern of #1 in order to get in on the federal trawler buyback program.

Re: New Baby B Haven
Hi John, way to go! Funny, I saw that boat on e-bay...sold in Portland. Shoot if I still had it bookmarked, I could figure out your e-bay name! Yea, if the engine is in good shape then it looks to be a good buy, on the surface. Have fun buffing (wax on, wax off).

Re: New Baby B Haven
Mark,
Not only does the engine run well and appear to be in good shape, it gets even better than that. You see, I just discovered that I will get a rebate or cash back as they say. I will receive an immediate 30 cents back from this purchase as soon as I redeem the 6 beer cans found in the flybridge housing.

Re: New Baby B Haven
Oh Boy, another Tolly in the ifish fleet! Good luck with her, that's a "real" Tolly too from the age. Mine was actually built after Tolly sold the company and it was being run by the guys who ran her into bankruptcy. :depressed:
Got a name yet?
Oh- and the boat bucks thing- yep, I'm having a SS exhaust system put in to avoid another bilge full of diesel soot and salt spray. The mechanic also says that the wet muffler is too close to the engine and the reason my satrboard motor runs rough is that the salt water from the muffler has sloshed back up into the manifold and gotten the exhaust valve corroded in the back cylinder.
Gotta fix the exhaust first then I get to have the head pulled this winter and get a valve job. Hope that's the only problem. Probably 5 boat bucks just to have the top end done. :depressed:

Mel,
I think it would only be right to name this boat Bay B Haven.

Re: New Baby B Haven
black magic - I can get you in touch with a guy who has the same 26 tolly if you want. He might be able to give you some tips/advice on the boat and hull.
I sure hope that boat doesn't have the old OMC drive on it. If so- plan on repowering. Everyone else has (almost). Volvo duoprop works real well on it. You have to have some glasswork done though. Volvo/merc fit in the same hole but OMC was an oddball. :depressed:

Re: New Baby B Haven
Mel,
I would very much appreciate the opportunity to contact an experienced owner of this model of boat.
As far as the running gear, it is a direct drive Chrysler Marine 340 V8 with a Velvet Drive BorgWarner gearbox. It is nearly the same as what I already have experience with.
Thank You,
John
