Default Gillnetting info help....

I have the privelage of giving a persuassive speech in my speech 101 class and decided I would give it on the dangers of gillnets in our local water. I was curious if you Ifishers know any good, reliable sources to get information on this topic. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest your topic "dangers of gillnetting" might be a little unclear. Danger to what? Gillnetting is a dangerous occupation and many commercial fishermen are hurt in pursuit of their occupation. Is that what you mean? or do you mean the risks to wild fish? If that's what you mean, you should start with a review of U.S. v. Oregon . Then, look at the group of agencies which manage the impacts of that decision at Salmon Recovery . Then you should develop an understanding of the cultural perspective of the value of wild v. propagated fish at Columbia Inter Tribal Fish Commission . Then, you will want to review the documents at Columbia River Compact
