Bad Morning...Got Robbed

Got up eary to go hunting...the gear was all lay out last night ready to go.
And it was all gone...stolen from the garage. Beretta Onyx 20 ga, new Pentax waterproof camera, binocs, breathable waders, Herters hunt coat, waterproof camera, blind bag, RNT calls... enough ... I'm getting sick again!

Anyway be on the look out for a sweet Beretta 20ga matte finsih rigged for a sling

Did they just steal hunting gear only, because a pawn shop is probably not going to be the place to find it. They're gonna use it.

Go to your near hunting resources, Sauvie, a major boat ramp, whatever and post a few signs. You might be surprised.

Happened to me twice in SE Portland. After I moved out of the very same house, the new owner was murdered in the garage. Now I have a ZERO strikes your out mentality. Let no one be foolish enough to let me catch them in the atc.

Cops do have the ser # .... its is possible to get luckey I guess...thanx for all the kind words and advise...I can use it now.

It doesn't sound like this will help you, but this is exactly why I finally got renters insurance this year. I figure I got $20K+ in fishing and hunting gear. I'm sure many others have 2, 3x or ?x that. Unfortunately, there are just too many thieves out there to not get insurance.

Man that sucks! I've been there myself...although I didn't lose THAT much stuff.

Bought 2 dozen brand new decoys, a new deke bag and a brand new chair. Spent a couple of days after school (this was back in highschool) getting the lines rigged, etc. Set it all on the front porch the day before the maiden voyage. Woke up the next morning and it was all gone! Man, that's a BAD feeling. Sorry about that.

I went and invested in a home camera system with a 24 hr vcr to keep an eye on things after we had some small things taken. They have systems now that have 3/4 cameras and they record directly to a DVR that comes with the system. The built in IR makes it a decent picture even with almost zero light and some have sound as well. Here is a link to one I found, but there are some cheaper ones like this out there. Even at $300 I felt that in the end if it caught someone in the act and I could get my stuff back it was worth it.

Ouch...Hope your homeowners/renters insurance will cover some of the loss. I have a seperate rider on mine that insures the full value of my hunting gear and golf clubs. It costs a little but the piece of mind is worth it for me.

Happened to me too. Very expensive in my case, even though they were caught.They stole all 3 of my deer rifles and hunting season was 2 months away.Had to buy new rifles and scopes. Then after the police held the rifles until trial....... anywho needless to say i ended up with bucu rifles, and an empty bank account .System sucks. A sherriffs son and two other boys stole them, and the washington county sherrif talked the da into not pressing charges against his son and he was the ringleader.When i protested LOUDLY I CAME REAL close to ending up in the hoosgow. System sucks.......

that really sucks! I told my daughter what happened and she said you could use her Rem 58 20 ga (mod) til you replace yours if you need something to hunt with.

Hope you get em back somehow.

Dont give up hope!I had a guy break into my truck and steal a rifle that was behind the back seat. A year later I got a call from a police officer in another city saying that they got my rifle back.... the upsetting part was that they didnt even charge the guy for stealing the gun....said they had other charges they didnt need to use that one.

That is really awful. I had some people steal some crab pots from my front yard but not near the same value. The police were really no help... out here in rural Oregon, the sheriffs don't have any money so there's hardly any patrol or follow up on property crimes. They spend all their time going from call to call for violent crimes etc.

I am a firm believer in what go around comes around. Mr. Sheriff will get his. Maybe not in the same way, but justice does not go unsatisfied. Leave it alone and what eventually happens is sweet.
