I came across this the other day while out hunting and not sure what animal it is. The area I am hunting is actually the ranges on an Army base and I have yet to see any dogs/yotes to date. If it is a canine type animal it is a darn big one. Is there anything else it might be in New Jersey? If in Texas I might say a Chubacabra (sp) Although the picture does not do it justice because all I had was my phone, it is about 8-9 inches long and 3-4 wide.
Werewolf would be my guess being 8-9 inches long and 3-4 inches wide... But something that big...hard saying! how many tracks were there? Can you put something near the print to give us a reference of how big it is? Like a cell phone or two way radio or something.
No water near where the picture was taken or sewer lines . I am going to set up a camera and try to get pictures. Jersey devil? Gator? Yote? I hope to capture whatever it is.

I am going out tomorrow and will try to use something as a reference for help. The area has been closed the past two days for training, but is open the next two and I will be out there hunting. Hopefully there will still be some fresh tracks to capture.
Careful Tallride... My WAG is either a bear cub or a wolverine These images are wolverine

Ok, I have had good links sent to me and did some more looking today because the area where I saw the tracks was open again. The downside is we have had some rain and the original big tracks I saw are not as clear. I have also added some new pics to the mix. I think then if I am not mistaken that there is a pretty big yote in the area as well as a bobcat. Any thoughts from these new pictures? I just find it strange that only two claw marks show and this is a sandy soft soil and there are now two different animals leaving the same type track. I would think all the claws would show.
1.original track with hand for reference
2. Bobcat?
3. Smaller track similar to original
4. A few deer tracks in the area
Yeah that don't look like 9 inches either. But I have to say after further review of the print it seems to me that what you have running around there is a coyote who has a nail chewing problem.
Coyote or small dog. A wolf print will be larger than your hand, unless its a puppy, or you play for the Blazers.

Is that 8-9 inches in BUM ( blonde units of measure )? You must have some huge hands.
Just funnin ya.
Well from the tip of my middle finger to the end of my palm is a little over 8 inches . I even threw a picture in for proof. My hand was the only thing I had to use a reference. I swear I am not a blonde, my hair is brown and receding .
someone must have lied to him about what 9" is..lol
definitely coyote!
Now why did I know it would eventually go there!! My wife is laughing over my shoulder. Seriously though I know the pictures don't do it justice but I have never seen coyote tracks that big if indeed that is what it is. I wish I had better pitcures with a better way to show just how big it was. My initial thought was bear until I started seeing pictures online if that helps any as to how big it would have been.
That thar is pretty soft soil, it will make the track look bigger. Yote!
