Default Interesting article in the San Diego paper

The story is about how the long range fleet has changed the way they store fish -- pretty good read, and a lot refers to how we are developing things up here.

Interesting article. Good to see the empahsis on quality over quantity. Although, how do you avoid it on the really long range trips. Would catch and release be realistic? I always wondered what they did with the huge tuna they catch off Clipperton and other long, long range spots. I have done the two day trips out of Oceanside and Pt. Loma, but I would love to do a 5 to 7 day trip, and they go for much longer if you have the time and $. When I was a kid growing up down there my Dad would drop me off on the 1/2 day boats at a cost of $5. He would also drop me off all day at Crystal Pier. Man, I was in heaven. He didn't fish, but he knew how I loved it. My grandfather started taking me offshore in the Gulf of Mexico when I was six and my grandmother gave me my first Penn reel when I was in fourth grade. I digress......one of those totes would fit perfectly on the bow of my boat!

The whole SD fleet will be caring for fish this way before next season. The Royal Polaris has already started, you can read about their plan in today's RP fishing report.

Can't wait to try it out on my upcoming trip.
