pretty cool story.....bass will eat anything. Reminds me of a time I threw a golf tee in a pond and a bass scarfed it down.

I was in a small boat once, on Skookum Lake near Newberg, when one of those pesky little brown birds, maybe 6-7" long was flitting along one of the shorelines, when SPLOOSH!! a good-sized bass jumped up and swallowed it on its way back into the water. Now, I know my dad used to use duckling lures for northerns in MN, but who would even consider making "tweety bird" rigs for LM bass?

When we lived on the water in Virginia, every spring we would see mama duck swiming around with numerous ducklings in tow. As the weeks went on the number of ducklings would start to decrease significantly. One morning while having coffee on the deck, we saw 2 duckings sucked down by bass.

Bass will eat just about anything that moves, as long as they can fit it in their mouth (and sometimes even if they can't). I remember reading about a gentleman catching a 15 lb bass, but when they checked the contents of the bass's stomach they found that it had eaten a 4 lb bass, when they checked the 4lb bass's stomach, they found that it contained a 1.5 lb bass. So did he really catch a 15 lb bass, or......?

This summer I caught a nice 7-8'' bass. I bent down to release it and it swam about a foot and a monster came out from under the dock and tried to inhale it all in one swallow.

Last spring my uncle took the plastic cake topper ornament off his sons high school graduation cake. He stuck a giant hook through it and glued it in place and proceeded to catch a bass with it. It was a little orange guy with a graduation hat on.

One summer we caught a live mouse on a dock and proceeded to use that as live bate for the bass. It worked pretty well.

The cake lure is great. I know someone who ran out of anchovies and caught a silver on a piece of bologna out of a sandwich
