Smile New to the site - exploring suggestions?

Hello,
I was told about this site a few weeks back and have spent some time enjoying some of the past and current threads. I really appreciate the friendly tone of the website.

I have been here in Oregon about 3 years now in the Portland metro area. I have been looking for some spots to hike in the off-season. I found a couple over east of here. Anything within 3 hours or so is game to me! Like seeing deer, not necessarily looking for a place to hunt. I have other plans for my points. Any suggestions of places to go would be great! (I like hiking the more open country where I can see---this stuff over here is awful thick.......)

Looking forward to enjoying this site more! Thanks.

Shane

We're a pretty friendly lot around here, particularly with folks we feel like we know. The tradition is that newbies give us all a good hunting or fishing story to introduce yourself. Once we know ya' a bit then it's more like sharing information with a hunting buddy. Otherwise, it's like someone walks into the middle of a conversation and starts asking questions, and many folks are reluctant to share information with strangers. Our mom's told us all a long time ago that we're not supposed to talk to strangers.

Well, Welcome aboard.
You know,
If you have a good set of strong legs (I mean really strong legs). and can muster a drive on the wa. side of the Columbia (head east appx 1 hr)..

Just past the junction that takes you to a place called "Carson" is a hike called "Dog Mtn"

You will sweat, burn and heave, but man the wildflowers up there about the 12th of June are wall to wall, and the view is outstanding.

Don't take any of your friends there, because after you drag them up and back, they will not want to go places with you anymore..

The Siouxon Trail (spelling?) north of Vancouver, WA is beautiful. Great views of the stream and the chance to run into some animals.

OK guys. Give me a day and I will muster up a story and a pic for you! I don't have a lot of Oregon stories, so you might have to live with an out of state story!

of other info in pretty breif chapters. I think the one I have is

forkhunter, welcome.

Oregon stories can be a little tough to come by the last few years. Give us what you got. We like them all.
