Default big oscar and tank for sale

39 gallon tank stand and all pumps and equipment. 75.00. stand is made of plywood and oak and is very sturdy. the oscar is about 8 inches long and about six inches tall. .25.00 for oscar. tank was orginaly set up for salt water. but is now fresh. it is an eclips, the filter and light are all combined in the hood. need to sell due to the fack we have three big tanks, and there is just to much upkeep in all three. the tank is in operation so you will need a big bucket to put oscar in while in transport. tank is a little dirty but you have to empty it in order to move it. so 100.00 takes it home. thanks greg. pm me if interested.

What does that thing eat? I might be interested for my classroom. 8th graders would love that thing.

Most of the oscars I've had in the past will eat anything that swims and is small enough to swallow. I've fed them feeder goldfish, frogs and crawdads.

A good place to get information on Oscars is to go to www.theoscarspot.com they were very helpful when I had Oscars.

My biggest problem with oscar was that they always get hole in the head disease.

Good food, temp control, large enough tank, and regular water changes help out with this alot.

For food, I fed my Oscars a beef heart mix from the site I provided above.

A good heater that mounts to the side of the tank. Try and avoid integrated setups that uses the lamp to provide both heat and light (to hard to regulate).

Tank size can really effect your Oscars health. Be sure to read the link I provided above for correct tank sizing.

Water quality is probably one of the biggest issues that most new aquariums owners run into. Once again stay away from filter systems that are integrated into the hood. A filter with high GHP rating, and regular water changes are you friend.

If you do all of the above you should have no issue with "Hole in the Head". If anyone has questions about aquariums in general or Oscars, please feel free to PM me.

This guy knows what hes talking about. At 8" he should be fine in that sized tank for a while too. I wouldnt mind having it but I have no room for another tank and mine are all full right now. I dont think he would play well with the Dempseys

I agree that he would be OK for awhile in the tank that is being sold with him, but I would expect to have to upgrade within a year. My Oscars started at about 3" and with in 1.5 years were at 10".

It's a toss up on if he would get along with the Dempsey or not I had a 6" Dempsey in with my Oscars and there was never a problem, but they started out together in the tank.

Also for new Oscar owners, 1 Oscar is fine by himself, 2 Oscars can be OK, but 3 almost never works because 2 will pick on 1. When picking 2 that will get along do the following, buy 6, pick the 2 that hang out together, take the other 4 back, and cross your fingers.
