What I did on my summer vacation...
I drove 586 miles from Mountain Home Idaho to Tillamook Oregon. I attended ifishstock, where I met about 200 (+/-) awesome fisherfolk, ate great food, won a prize in the door prize drawing, drooled on Crabbaits boat, and shared in the comraderie of the moment.
I spent 7 days at a nice beach house in Oceanside. I recommend that little town to anyone who is planning to spend time on the coast.
I went clamming, crabbing, and fishing.
I went for the ride of a lifetime on the Black Rocket. I caught my first tuna. I watched my nephew catch his first salmon ever. I flew (literally) over the bar at Garabaldi. (Funny thing was I never felt safer in Big Blue.) I saw Mola-mola, puffin, albatross, and about 30 different types of birds (that I am still fighting with Brett over what species they were)to add to my life list. Fished with a really nice guy named Bob from Boring. We also impressed my family, who watched us run by on the way from Pacific City to Garabaldi.
I met, played, and partied with the best people on earth!
Thanks to everyone who contributed to my fun. Especially Jennie and Bill, Captain Kujo and DOLPHINLYN, Pilar and Ocean Blue, Marie and Dennis, Steve, Depoe Bay Dan, all the ifishers that came up and talked to me at ifishstock, and made Nancy and Mary Kate feel right at home. I would especially like to thank my family - who put up with me getting up too early and napping all afternoon, most of the days anyhow...
