I still havent filled my muzzelloader tag and the only thing open is the willamette unit. I have never hunted the unit and do not know any where to go. If anyone can direct me in a good direction i would really appricate it!!!! Its a small unit with alot of private property is my guess. thanks

Re: last chance oregon muzzelloader???
I spend all my vacation and the first week hunting elk with no luck. Passed on deer all week only looking for the big one figured that last sat and sun i could find a deer, but no luck. I think all the deer left for vacation last weekend. Had to go back to work and it gets dark so early. I think im screwed.

Re: last chance oregon muzzelloader???
Unless you have a shotgun muzzleloader with buckshot, I don't believe you would be legal on Willamette River Greenway property. It is shotguns and bows only I think.

2008 Oregon Big Game Regulations pg. 100
Willamette Rvr Greenway - "Hunting is permitted with shotguns or bows and arrows only, during authorized seasons on Willamette Rvr Corridor Greenway parcels, except in those parcels where hunting is prohibited".
I don't believe a .50 cal muzzleloader qualifies as a shotgun or bow.

Re: last chance oregon muzzelloader???
My mistake . I still have my Willy tag and I was thinking "boat" . Smoke pole is a different deal. Good luck. BH

ACtually I think it still is leagle. Id call ODFW. Shot gun and muzzleloader are about the same as far as rang and what not. I'll bet they are leagle.

Re: last chance oregon muzzelloader???
A slug in a shotgun and a muzzelloader lead ball both drop like rocks, I dont see what the difference would be. But laws are laws

Re: last chance oregon muzzelloader???
It's about as clear as some of our other laws/regulations. I didn't go to the ORS/OAR but, from the Regulations, I think you're okay if it's a muzzleloader shotgun and you use #1 buckshot or larger. See page 38 of the '08 regulations and the definitions on page 90. For me, the definition of muzzleloader seemed to hone it in some - - I really think your'e okay with a muzzleloader shotgun. But the suggestion to check with ODFW or OSP F&W Division is a good one. It's moot, for this year after Sunday. But, 'good question and I thought I'd study it a bit. Don

Re: last chance oregon muzzelloader???
It was just a spike. sorry no pics. Walked up with a buddy who was bow hunting we split at the fork in the road. Got up to the top of the reprod unit and the little buck was staring at me from about 100yds uphill. I told myself if I can make it to that stump in front me anouther 10yds I would take the shot. I got to the stump took a good rest and double lung. Not a big buck but its a filled tag and succesful last weekend, thanks to ifish..... My buddy with his bow was kinda angry cause we always go hunting together and he is always helping me with my game, heck of a wingman.....
