Looks sorta calm compared to what they're predicting up for up here.

Think there's much chance things will die down like they did this past weekend? It's about what they were saying early in the week, then it really mellowed out.

"It will be what it will be.."

I'm planning on going if the weather cooperates.

Friday could be a little messy...SW wind in the morning?

Probably be a PO show if the swells continue outta the NW. We'll see what the next few days forecasts bring us....

Would you mind sharing some numbers for any halibut spots out of Coos Bay? My Dad still lives in there and has never been Halibut fishing. With all of these days left in the season, I thought I would give him a treat. Email is fine.

Thanks,
James

OOOHHHHH, that one! Not sure if I can cooperate then, just kidding. I'll check my notes tonight and can either email them or give them to your mom. Either way works for me.

Lepper,
will be in PO for a week of fun and play starting 8-23. Will be going after Halibut on Sunday 8-24 if you want another boat to run with. Let me know and we can figure out the details.

Correction:
just read the post I put out earlier and the ODFW says it is only open Friday and Saturdays till the end of the season not Saturday and Sundays.

UUUMMMMM, I wouldn't advise a sunday run for hali's. Mostly because the season is only open on friday's and saturday's. Just keeping you posted.

Tailchaser,
Thanks
Would like to target Tuna while we are in PO for the week we are there. Looking for other boats to run with if you are interested. Might have room for another deck hand if needed.
Are the Tuna still out at 20 miles from Coos Bay?Can you be so kind as to help me out with any Tuna/Halibut numbers in the area?

Well if the weather cooperates a little more than what they're showing I might be interested in tagging along on saturday if you're going. The latest SST's show a lot of warm water close to Coos Bay and PO. I haven't heard many reports because the weather has been so crappy here lately from the wind no one has ventured out. I'll post some numbers tonight for the halibut hill though for everyone to see. As soon as I hear something though I'll let everyone know. I'll be in touch.

Thanks TC,
giving them to my mom would be fine. If the weather cooperates and my boss will give me a day off(lots of ifs ) I hope to get my dad out on the saturday of labor day weekend. Anyone know how heavy of a boat the sling in PO can handle? Or maybe I should just stick to Charleston, at least I know that port. Does Englund's Marine have any tuna lures and double hooks?

Thanks,
James

PO boat sling lowers commercials in all the time. BIG booms!

Englund's should have an assortment of tuna stuff, at least they did a week ago.

I should be at the launch between 0530 and 0600. If there's a line, look for the yellow Wooldridge, being pulled by the Green Ford 4x4.

We're going w/Halibut, Tuna, Salmon and Ling gear. If the seas behave, it could be a loooong day.

I'll monitor vhf 19.

MY - I have seen your yellow boat before and I think it would be hard to find two boats all season that color in PO. I will be in a red 23' NR and my friends call me Bob.

Mello, Northriver and All,
I will be getting there late this Saturday and be there thru Labor Day weekend. I'll try and catch up with you when you get back to the dock Saturday afternoon to hear all the BIG FISH STORIES! I have a Green Tunderjet outboard, pull it with a Green Dodge and my friends call me Ron.

At the risk of repeating myself as my post from yesterday seems to have disappeared (great site, easy to navigate but I'm sure I made some rookie mistake). I will be in PO 08/28 – 09/01. Plan on making a run for whatever the seas permit 08/29 and 08/30. Would be happy to join up with everyone. White North River w/ off shore bracket. I’ll be at the dock at the crack of dawn. For anyone that hasn’t used the PO sling the commercial boats go to the head of the line, which, depending on the open fishery, can sometimes create quite a back-up. -Mike
