Re: Sundays upland hunt with some pics
any guy that can swing down all those birds with a cowboy action scattergun is going to be really big medicine on a standard uplanders gun!
no knock intended, you must be one with that gun!
Nice shootin Tex.
Oh, remind me, if ever we hunt together, You have to shoot the shorty...

Leadeyedbugger
That is paradise...I hope heaven looks like that. Jager Meister says thanks...he didn't even seem to mind the porcupine with all those quail to point.

Re: Sundays upland hunt with some pics
Duckboy....i was confused with the cowboy action comment for a sec...after looking at the pic again i see what your saying...it does look like a shorty sxs in the pic......actually a standard 26" 12 gauge o/u is what i pack....And don't worry about me showing anybody up on the shooting...it was a lucky day.

Re: Sundays upland hunt with some pics
Very nice. So that's where one hunts for quail in Oregon! I moved to Arizona in April and I am headed out for some quail tomorrow. I don't have to go too far...those things are all over down here. I get around 30 in my backyard every day: My dog goes nuts in the house

Very nice! It's amazing how much prime real estate does not get hunted because you have to walk a short distance from the road. How lazy are people??? I'm not complaining though.

You are extremely fortunate to have access to private land. Makes all the difference.

Re: Sundays upland hunt with some pics
Now I ain' t saying you are a liar, or that you are wrong, But I am confused, and I think you may have either: a stoeger coach gun with 20 inch barrels,
or
a shotgun that used to have 26 inch bbls and was hacked short... which puts you behind the 8 ball even more for longer shots, since both of your chokes would be "OPEN Cyl".. A true scattergun.
Here is why,

In the photo, you are hunkered down, and your gun appears to be locked with the breech shut. Draw a horizontal line from your eyes and it nearly perfectly meets the top of those 20 inch bbls.
I have attempted a similar posture and used a 28 inch model shotgun.
From my eyes to the tip of the bbl..in a horizontal line. bout 8 inches of bbl above the line...
So either you have a Coach gun
or
a hacked gun.
Either way,
If you can lay it out with that shooter, then one that will swing and has a longer barrel will mean that the birds are really shafted when you flush them...

Re: Sundays upland hunt with some pics
Duckboy...I took that picture of leadeyebugger...true story it is a std O/U. Check out this pic taken eariler in the day. Must be the way the light picked it up and the way he was holding it. By the way Leadeyedbugger shoots it well and he is also a large person...I wouldn't want to upset him.

I've hunted with him as well. It's an O/U and he's just a big feller.

Re: Sundays upland hunt with some pics
LOL....i don't think i could hold up a gun with 20" brls. Nothing to hold onto. Nope, standard stoeger condor, no ejectors,26" barrels. I just double checked, they measure exactly 26". Total gun length is 43" tip to tip. And yes it lines up just slightly above my eyes. BTW, nice looking 0/u duckboy and why is hat not on straight

Re: Sundays upland hunt with some pics
I am headed over that way again tomorrow. Maybe I can find someone to let me hunt that actually has birds on their property. Friday ended up with one nice expensive quail and a few "nope I have people hunting" answers. I must be crazy to drive 3 hours for one quail!
