Cark?
So what is this term "cark"? I looked it up:
"To be careful, anxious, solicitous, or troubles in mind; to worry or grieve." (Webster's)
Whazzup?

Re: Cark?
Mr Thumper,
I have seen it used a couple of ways here...
"We are off to cark (catch/kill) some tuna. When we get back we will need some help carking(cleaning) all these silver bullets. Are you going to the carkfest (fishing camp)?"
Tight Lines,
Joe

Re: Cark?
Now that it is daylight, it has dawned on me that not only has a word been frivolously invented, but immediately thereafter misspelled ... "carc" (to make a carcass thereof) is now "cark".
I also note that lady Salty Dogs rarely "cark". It is mostly a guy Salty Dog thing.
I am concerned. Over on LIG we would not get away with something like this....

Re: Cark?
That's right, it is unlady like to cark with a fish.

Re: Cark?
Actually looking at Websters Third New International Unabridged dictionary Cark comes from a middle English word "Carken". This word meant to load or burden - such as they did with the serfs of those days.
One of the definitions for the present day "Cark" is to labor anxiously, which I think we do when CARKING TUNA. (Why for sluggards cark and moil - Charles Kingsley)
I do like Thumper's ideas though. Carc = make a carcass out of something. That would describe the whole process from catching to cleaning.
