What a great morning for fishing!!
I decided to make a quick solo run out of Depoe Bay this morning while the fish to be smoked are drying before I could put them in the smoker.
Ran on out to about 30 fathoms, and dropped in the good old hoochie I've been using all year, and sure enough it proved invaluable once again!! Hoochie with a small chunk of herring, large flasher, and a small diver combination.
Got several nate fish, while on a slow troll on a western tack towards about 35 fathoms. Was just slightly north of the whistle bouy, although not much at all really. Didn't even put the GPS up since it was foggy, was navigating off the radar anyway, so can't really give good numbers, sorry.
Anyhow, picked up first keeper coho, about 10lbs, very nice fish...then went back to fishing at about 33 fathoms. Had a very active bite, in that area, so tended to stick around there...got a few nates, and started off on that western tack again. At about 35 fathoms is where life got fun, as I started having memories of last nights chinook all over again. This one didn't break the surface though, and just took a dive down deep while running as far away from the boat as he could get.
Soon enough, I managed to get him back up to the boat and sure enough, it looked like it could've been a twin to the chinook I got last night on that same hoochie. Was about 25lbs again, very nice fish. Sorry didn't get any pics of it as camera batteries were dead.
Ocean conditions were great this morning, although a bit foggy. No real wind, small swell, very easy morning to fish.
Here is last nights pics:
