Tunanewbies no more...
Welp, I apologize for the lousy pictures. All I had was an old box camera I found in my camper a few days before. Diamondback should be coming up with some better pics soon.
Here's Mello and Diamondback at the dock in Bandon. We drew quite the crowd of tourists. Ended up having to explain the life cycle of tuna and halibut. Sheesh!
Note the fish 3rd from the right. It's jaw was severely broken. Musta nailed the jig going the other way. This is why we use snubbers. Without them, we'd have only retrieved the jaw....
The next pic is just a shot showing why a 5 gallon bucket really isn't ideal for bleeding TUNA. These were some nice fish...
I've been waiting to get some sort of pics to post to take the opportunity to praise Diamondback. He was a first-class fishing partner and I had an absolutely great time fishing with him. After limiting on Halibut, we were both chomping at the bit to get after some TUNA. As stated in an earlier post, our first tuna were taken on a double, both on sport poles. We were smiles from ear to ear! Our last fish had to be over 30#s. DB played him long, but played him well. To a great first tuna trip!

Re: Tunanewbies no more...
Mellow, you’re making me all teary-eyed. Just the sight of your bare blood-caked legs puts a lump in my throat . But seriously folks, Mellow had done his research well. After the first couple of fish he had the head spike thing down, one swift blow and presto, open jaw and final death quiver . I never really did get it down, but only mutilated a few (practice, practice) . From there into the ice brine and then packed on ice. First class table fare . That last one kicked my you-know-what, I was putting everything I could into the rod and it just wouldn’t come up.
Mellow, you’re a class act and a first-rate tuna carker. Can’t think of anyone else that I’d have wanted to lose my tuna virginity with .
I’m going to pick up my pics tomorrow. I’ll post them once I get them scanned.
P.S. I hear ya on the REAL tuna sandwiches. I don’t know what’s better, the dinner or the sandwiches the day after  .

Re: Tunanewbies no more...
Well, let's see if I've got this picture upload/sizing thing down (what a hassle!). I need to get me one of those digital cameras (and Tuna stuff, more coolers, gas cans, harpoon, new fish finder, etc. etc.)
Here's one of my Bro' the next day with a couple of chickens. His first halibut.
Here's one of my niece with her first salmon a couple of weeks ago. What a smile!
This is my other fishing partner Thomas (4 years old)shad fishing on the South Fork Coos. What a beautiful day Hope to get him out salmon fishing on the upper bay in a few weeks.
And last but not least, Jacob (4 month old now, about 2 weeks in the picture).
Yes, I can see it now, "Thomas, you get going on carking those fish, and Jacob you clean out the boat, I'm going to take a nap"

Re: Tunanewbies no more...
Hey, your camera takes better pictures than mine does! The cardboard must not have been peeling off yours like it was mine...
Great pics DB!
BTW, I just bought a new digital. Next time it won't look like the fog has rolled in...
