Default Why buy bait?

Fishing at B-10 (actually more out of Chinook) this morning, we were passing over school after school of bait fish, so I reeled in and threw a herring jig over and quickly caught more than enough bait for the next couple of days

I don't think I will buy any more anchovies this season, just jig my own.

Talking with a friend, we have never seen or heard of so many bait fish than the last couple of years. With UG's reports of Sardines North of Depoe and other reports of huge schools of bait fish it is just amazing. I'm afraid that in years to come we will look back at years like this as "The Good Old Days"

For a report: We fished inside until 10 with out seeing a net fly, then ran outside and were able to put a limit of 4 keeper Coho in the boat within a hour and head for Hammond. We did see some fish being caught at B-10 on our way in.

8-10 pulls, but those darn fish would follow your hootchie right to the boat...

my 2 cents worth,

Its great you can jig for your baits!

But remember this, Bait Shops need your support!~

If everyone was to jig for your baits you would possibly put bait shops out of business. :depressed:

And when you ran out of your baits you caught yourself, you locate your favorite bait shop and notice a big *GONE OUT OF BUSINESS* sign. :depressed:

Then you wonder why?

So be careful what you wish for, or jig for...

Most of the time folks would rather spend their time fishing, I know~ from many loyal customers I have.

Like I said, my 2 cents worth...

Have Fun Fishing!

Don't worry Marie, no matter how motivated I get I could never catch enough bait to keep me supplied all year. And even if I am able to catch my bait for the day, I am still going to need some hooks, line and some of those pretty spinners that you tie up

Unforturnately the one time that you decide not to buy bait and jig it yourself there won't be any Something about Murphies Law....
