No it isn't worth the drive!
Don't waste your time but save it for later if the run materializes!

There are currently no smelt or seagulls ffeding on them or the obeast sea lions!

A little Info From WDFW 2/18

Tryed the Grays yesturday, after salmon and crab, and before the clams, saw the eagles and gulls but no smelt in the net.Trolled a spinner of the mouth of youngs bay,no luck just got followed around by a hungry sea lion, the nets in the bay are picking up a few so thought it'ld be worth a try.Soaked two pots while we trolled, one crab for our trouble, drove over to the Grays empty nets for our trouble. But we did get into the clams....all in all not a bad day though coulda been worse.

i checked the current washington regs and smelting in the grays is closed. they are also referred to as eulachon. hate to see you guys get a ticket. so i checked the wdfw website and it said open to all lower columbia tribs. sure is a long drive for some stinky little fish.
