Default Pete has been selected for the CRRFAG

EDIT.... PETE IS IN...

Well, it is official… Pete has been nominated for Columbia River Recreational Fishing Advisory Group.

This is important to both Pete and Ifish and Pete could use our help in winning this appointment. I would like to ask that you e-mail a note of support for Pete to Deb Kuttel at kuttedak@dfw.wa.gov. We only have until Wednesday to provide our show of force from the Ifish constituency.

Something simple like:

To:
Deb Kuttel

I would like to add my support for the nomination of Pete Morris to the Columbia River Recreational Fishing Advisory Group.

Sincerely
Blah Blah Blah… you get the drill

Add something about Ifish too so it is a double plug

Again thanks for your help, it would be nice to see as many people as possible send in their support…

Anyone can help! If you know Pete, and how dedicated he is, say so! I'd appreciate having a great guy on this committee!

Are recommendations/endorcements from Idaho acceptable?

Pete's got my vote and I'd be more than happy to send a note.

Idaho is more than acceptable, it would be great. The farther away the note of support the better it looks for Pete and Ifish

Done! Thanks for the heads-up, and thanks to Pete for being willing to take on a task like that. He is exactly the kind of person we need on that Advisory Group.

Gonzoray:

(from the position announcement)
Fisheries managers in Oregon and Washington are seeking nominations from interested individuals to create two committees that will advise them on Columbia River sport and commercial fishery management matters. Nominations are due Friday, Aug. 15, 2003.

The Columbia River Recreational Fishing Advisory Group and the Columbia River Commercial Fishing Advisory Group will each have up to 15 members. The groups will meet three to four times per year to discuss issues affecting salmon, steelhead, sturgeon and smelt fisheries. Issues include stable and viable fishing opportunities, fishery management plans, minimizing sport/commercial gear conflict, and, for the commercial group, creation and implementation of a marketing plan.

The Washington and Oregon fish and wildlife departments had Columbia River fishery advisory committees in the past, but they have not been active for several years. The directors of both departments decided to re-create the advisory committees to provide a more defined and formalized structure for receiving public input and to ensure that all aspects of emerging issues are analyzed and heard by fishery managers. Members will be expected to provide input through the North of Falcon season planning process, Columbia River Compact commercial fishing hearings, and joint state sport fishing hearings.

The committee members will be chosen by Oregon and Washington's fish and wildlife directors to represent either the recreational or commercial fishing interests in both states. The final membership is expected to reflect all sectors of the two industries. For example, sport and commercial fishers, charters/guides, processors, equipment suppliers, retailers, ports, etc. Occasionally, the two groups will meet together.

Hey Pete, I need a regulation passed for springer season that no one but me has the right to back bounce for springers at the falls. Okay. Oh, and please don't anchor in my spot at Reed Island either during springer season. That should be another law. And when the Columbia is closed to Sport fishing Only my boat will be allowed to do fishing research on the weekends.

That should about do it Pete. Hope you can pull it off for me. I just hate sharing the river. Thanks.

No problem, Bernie.

You know, if you were a little more efficient, you could get your 2 per day and be off the river before anyone else showed up ... best of both world, no?

Hand lines in the Columbia River? You do that for salmon, or just sturgeon?

Pete, I am only 1/8 tribal so I don't qualify for that type of fishing. Far as getting off the water quick...been there done that last springer season.

Now for up-ing the limits, Not necessary, I usually catch mostly natives anyways so it would'nt do me any good. 80% keepers, boy that was bogus. And just in case you were wondering Mel, I do still have freezer space set aside for Springs. YUM YUM!!!
