Default Newport Bar Tomorrow

I need a little help from you experienced Newport bar crossers. I am planning on fishing tomorrow out of Newport, but the morning tides have me a little puzzled on when to go out. The low tide is at 9:30 and we have about a 6 foot swing. So I would assume to avoid the bar from 5:30-9:30. I know the Newport Bar isn't as bad as the Columbia or Tillamook, so I am wondering what time most are planning on crossing? Is a 6 foot swing significant enough to cause problems in Newport? I don't really want to cross the bar and then be stuck for several hours if I need to get back in (been there done that.)

I know sea conditions will play a factor, but any input would be appreciated.

Newport is easy. The worst I have seen it is like a river rapid with 2' ripples in it. The forecast is for 6' swells this weekend so it may be a little more bumpy than usual. Stick to the south side of the channel and away from the north jetty, go straight out with the bouy's until you get a ways out. It is probably only going to be challenging at the peak flow but I doubt you would have to worry about being stuck for a couple of hours, we'll se what other ifishers have to say.

I would check the bar reports today and monitor todays conditions, they look to be similar to what is predicted for tomarrow. The Umpqua bar was closed o 22 and under at 7am this morning, and if its anything like this area, it may be cloased there as well. I personally make my decision when I arrive, but tomarrow morning doesnt sound to promising down here if its closed so soon today.

Finclipped, No need to worry about getting stuck outside the bar for several hours. Based on recent weather forecast it doesn't look like there's much chance it will be closed or restricted much this weekend.

Judging by the number of empty boat trailers in the parking lot this morning you'll have lots of company out there. About a million small craft were zippin out this morning as I was walking up the dock to go to work. It was a little breezier than it's been for so early in the morning and the wind was coming from the south, but that may change as this pressure front moves up the coast. The bar here is one of the best around. Follow PBR's advice and you'll be fine.
