Default Thank You Skein

http://www.ifish.net/ubb/ultimatebb....=001029#000000

I had no idea what we were getting into when this started. I knew that I was on the ocean with other boats but felt all alone. Kurt got the PacNWSalt mail group going and then a small group of diehards started the "Saltwater Parish of the Church of the bent rod." aka The Salty Dogs

Thank you for Skein for helping me to realize a dream. You are me 10 years ago with one important difference ... you are not alone on the ocean.

Thank you all who come here and help each other.

Hey ya big Sweade,
I HAVE SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEN.....THE PROMISED LAND (in this case, it's water)
The feeling of extended family that abounds here at the Church of the Bent Rod is very reminesant of those days back at the Dead Shows. It was like everyone was on the same frequency. There was that common "tie" the bound us together.
John, I hesitate to say this, but you're like Jerry man. It's like that story you told me about him pouring a beer for you that time.
Sometimes the light's all shinin' on meeeeeeee,
Other times I can can barely seeeeeeeeeeeee,
Lately it occurrs to meeeeeeeeeeeeeee,
What a Lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng strange trip it's been...

What in the world ever did become of sweet Jane anyway?

You're not Like Jerry in an American Idol sorta way, but more in a way where it is a honor to know you or to have met your acquaintance. We all know that we are all just humble two-leggeds walking around on this Turtle Island.
John, you represent what many of us aspire to be with your caring and generousity. You bring things to mind that those of us in the masses forget about or don't take into consideration.
Sometimes folks need to get "grounded" and find that inner TUNA! fisherman. Possibly get slapped in face in the name of the Plastic Jesus. Or maybe a good swift kick in the Old Testiments!
This is just my way of saying... It's good to here from you man.
I'm leaving for Hawaii for a week. I'll be back on the 26th of August. Is that too late to get back out there for TUNA!?
Peace out My Bro Bro,
Ragnar

John,
I reckon I told you to your face how much I appreciate what you all have done--I'm not gonna start blubbering like Rag
Oh yeah. Rag wrote:

Ah Rag, I think that common bond you were referring to is illegal inside of 30 miles

Thanks all. John I can't say how many times yours and others writting has gotten me all gushy. I have learned most of what I know about the ocean from people on this forum.

Heading to Maui tomorrow am. Hoping to get broke in on a Blue Marlin  I have booked on the Iwa Le Le. Pronounced Eva Lay Lay. It is a 39' Custom Force and she looks like a fishing machine. Most charters leave at 6:30. I booked with her 'cause they leave at 4:30 for obvious reasons plus was told that start time would weed out most of the greenies. The thing that speaks most loudly about her fishing prowess is the fact that most island charters have a list of ammenities as long as my arm, including a color TV. The Iwa Le Le lists Amenities: fish box, head.

Thanks everyone.

Wish me luck boys and maybe with some help I can post a few picks of some Mahi Mahi or a sword..............

See ya when I see ya.

WildHawg,
Have we met? Do I know you? Because yeah man my memory aint quite what it used to be.....
But seriously though..........NO really.. I mean it!
Funny thing is......By the time I found The Dead, I was actually a few years clean and sober. How's that for irony? I made the connection with that cosmic energy without the use of any artificial joy. But... Then again, It could've been the second hand smoke. Yes, I can even laugh at myself. I'm O.K. with that....It ddoesn't make me feel all happy/sad. Or make me want "draw boundaries."
Just curious here....So, what IS legal outside the 30 mile mark? And maybe better yet...Why are you so concerned about it?
Here's areally fun exercise....
Go into a crowd of mix company and yell "MARAJUANA!" really loud. You can see the paranoia set in with some and the look of confusion or disgust with others. There you will have your answer Amigo. Personally, I don't care. I have absolutely nothing to hide. My urine is as pure as the driven snow, now with almost 11yrs. under my belt (i'm not talking about my love handles here).
So, am I blabbering too much for you? I want you to know that this response is geuine and heartfelt.
Oh, golly gee! A single tear rolls down my cheek here.
Does somebody need a hug? Or perhaps a Hot Pocket?

You just let me know there little fella... O.K.?
So anyway. Yeah! What he said....

It's great to be a part of this! (albeit somewhat insignificant). I only wish I'd found it sooner. Living in the "information age" allows people of similar interests to come together.

My 13yr old daughter asked my Wife who I was fishing with last Friday. "I dunno, some guy he met on the internet (Diamondback). My daughter freaked! I guess there's still this paradyme that only rapists and mass murderers hook up with 'innocents' online. Well, this may be partially true. Diamondback and I did **** and plunder the halibut and tuna grounds that day...

May the Salty Dog's live on forever...oi, oi, oi
