my uncle the elk killer!

This is my uncles elk he shot last week, 3 by fork. A couple of .30-30 rounds to the neck and head did him in.

My uncle didn't start huntign until 5 years ago. In 5 years he has killed 3 bucks, a doe and now an elk, all with his marlin .30-30. The man is a TRUE hunter. He reads maps, scouts year round, puts more miles on his boots than the tires on his truck. He is a brush buster if there ever was one. He is patient and remembers every little backroad and trail we come upon. I can't imagine how many animals he would have to his credit had he started hunting at a young age.

Great job by your uncle. Those branches with no eyegaurds are about my worst nightmare. They are also the reason I don't shoot if I'm not 100% sure.

I have an elk killing uncle too. But he did start at a young age. They sure are fun to have in camp!

I am glad that he gave hunting a try. I don't think its to common for guys to start hunting past the 20's.

Congrats to your uncle........sounds like a hard working inspired soul. You should ask him to join our family here on Ifish, this way he could enjoy virtual hunting all year long!

Good for him ! Just goes to show you that the 30-30 lives on.
My mom used to hunt Deer and Elk with a Mod.94 winchester 30-30 she has taken a number of animals with that gun.
