Default Pictures for the visual learners

I posted a message on TUNAboat setups that I wanted to make as its own post so I could get as much input as possible.
Thanks,
Quote:
I have a 23'6" Jetcraft and am thinking of running multiple handlines out of the boat. I was going to manufacture an aluminum set-up with detachable spools that I can put the handlines on with a cam break to slow their release, you guys always mention not holding on to the hl when a tuna grabs it on the way out.
My problem is this; I do not have enough experience with other boats that run handlines and do not know exactly how the ideal setup would work. I know all of you explain it and do so in detail, but I am more of a visual person and don't really follow along with some of these explainations. I hope I am not the only one who has this problem so I am not wasting your time on just me. I would like to know if there are any pictures I could take a look at or a web site that would clear up my questions. I am also having the same problems with understanding the correct way to bleed and cark a tuna. I don't know if any of you would be interested in taking some pictures you might be able to post to explain what you are doing step by step, but I know I would really appreciate it. Even hand drawings would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks and sorry to be a pain. I just really hate to go out unprepared and I know the first few times will be insane as it is.

We were all wearing white shirts when we left the dock to go fishing, which was a mistake.

Here is a photo of a fish that changed the color of there white shirts. Sorry it doesnt show where to stick them. But does resemble some sort of cult ritual, blood letting ceremony.

I like Corrirods idea of cutting them while in the ice chest, we kept having slippery floor problem with the red stuff on the deck. You learn some little thing with each person you fish with.

It is almost like somebody is playing a joke on you .....Okay, now slit the gills...then it bleeds all over, just before it goes into a massive death quiver that splatters the blood all over the place.

It seems if you stuffed them nose first in a 5 gallon bucket and slit them there it might keep the mess to a minimum? anybody try that? Oh and you would have to secure the bucket for sure.

Or you could just have Keta sit on them

Has anyone ever passed out when they saw so much blood? Or do you do a stomach test before leaving the docks much like Kujo does the survival tests?

I slaughtered a goat one time, and it didn't even have that much blood...I don't know if a cow would have that much blood. Anyway, thanks for trying and anymore info would be great.

Gus: I don't use a five gallon bucket because it's too SMALL!! I use a full
sized garbage can ... well, actually two. I drilled holes in the bottom of one
garbage can and put it inside the other. That way you can put several fish at a
time in your "bleed bucket" and the blood drains THROUGH the first can into the
space between the bottom of the first can and the second can. Less mess in the
boat that way. However, you then have to clean TWO garbage cans when you get back
to the dock!!

I think I would settle for the two garbage cans instead of spraying the entire boat down after each fish...geez they are messy.

Thanks for the input! I have a big transom area that I should be able to bleed out a fish. Hopefully this will keep the mess to that part of the boat. About how long does each fish bleed for before you can put it in the brine wash and then on ice?
