Default Tuna Wisdom for Friday?

Casting to the great pond of Tuna wisdom for advice. THursday or Friday... Garibaldi or Depot Bay? THe Sherry Marie is on the trailer now so we are mobile. The temperature charts look like the warmer water is closer to garibaldi but the the morning tide swing for leaving would be at its worst at 5:00. Is anyone else planing a run on thursday or friday?

Ray - After yesterday, and the previous several days reports I personally wouldn't even try for tuna this week. While the warm water is out there and well within reach, the fish are pretty scattered I think. That combined with the 20mph winds that're gonna be blowing most of this week, it's not gonna be a fun trip.

Yesterdays trip was manageable, but was not a comfortable ride and we had to work to keep the tuna gear straight.

Strictly going off the ocean forecast it looks as though Thursday is the best of the two. With a NW wind and W swell I'd say Depoe is your most comfortable ride just because you'll have to go south from Garibaldi and then come back crossways to the "grain" of the ocean during the heavy wind waves. Going out of Depoe in the morning should be fine and coming back with the wind will make the ride much more comfortable.

Just my opinion.

Edit: Sorry Ray, I was looking at the Northern Forecast when I wrote above. Based on the mid-coast forecast I'd stay home and save the gas for another day!

Ray,

The water off Depoe Bay was 63 degrees at 11 miles on Monday. The water
was a dark BLUE at 15 miles. At 34 miles we actually found a few fish, but
having water breaking over the wheel house made me decide that NO tuna was worth
my life!!

The guys out of Pacific City have been scoring good numbers of TUNA! off
Cape lookout about 20-22 miles. I suspect that if the push keeps coming from
the South this week we are going to find TUNA! within 20 miles of most of the
coast by the Thursday-Friday timeframe.

Good luck in what ever you decide!!
