Re: Union county whitetails
My buddy has this tag, and he is heading out I am sure. I seen some ones by Kamela area, but I am sure its gonna be targeted come the weekend. Nothing like a late season sighting of a WT in action!! Good luck and cannot wait to hear how you do

Re: Union county whitetails
One area we have seen tons of Whitetails in is around Cove. Another area which has a lot of private property is the lower Catherin creek drainage. Just drive up along all the fields late in the afternoon.
Basicly we have seen them in the typical Whitetail habitat. Low lands around river bottoms.
The biggest Whitetail buck ive seen was just out of LaGrande city limits not far from Riverside park.

Whitetails all up high in the Wenaha unit. I couldn't believe how many there are up there. Some really nice bucks.

Re: Union county whitetails
I wish we would get some snow to drive them down but it doesn't look to promising. I know where a couple good ones are hanging out. I found them a couple years ago I think they are twins and about 4 year bucks now. I see them in the same area every year. I am going to give a go this weekend so we will see what happens. I have never hunted whitetails before .

You should be able to find them. Whitetails get into a routine and you can pattern them pretty well. Also, they stay in the same general areas.

Re: Union county whitetails
Geez, here I live in Pendleton and have hunted the Starkey unit, and bird hunt just out of Cove along the Grande Ronde, and I've never even SEEN any WT much past exit 216 off of 84! I always looked at that area up there as muley country. (Apparently wrong!)

I have seen white-tail WAY up in the Starkey unit. A good friend of mine has been up chasing them around.

Oops, I missed a part of his post. I thought he had not ever seen a whitetail and was offering a tip to view some. I understand Reith is not Union County.
