Default Hog Hunting in Oregon

Anyone do or know of a place to hog hunt in Oregon? I see information in the synopsis about feral hogs. I would love to hunt them! Probably the best tasting game animal around.

If anyone knows of a spot in oregon where you can get a wild pig they are going to keep quiet about it. Southern oregon is the only place i know of that has any in huntable amounts.

I have heard that there is a population of them near madris also. What I have heard is that hunting them in oregon is very hard, most of the animals have hold up on private land or areas with little access. I mean think about it we all spend lots of time in the woods and there isn't many of us that have seen any.

This is about the 10th thread on this subject. Rather than reply for the 10th time, I am suggesting that you search this website. You should come up with several threads.

just like California. 95% of the hogs harvested in California are on private land. 500.00 bucks is about the going rate for a hog hunt on private land in California

The Starwalts outside of Spray Oregon have lots of wild hogs. You might try there first.

By th time you spend all the time hunting and scouting them you will have spent way more money than gettign on a plane and flying to Texas to hunt them

Flight into Austin $250 RT
Rental car $200
Guide on the right ranch's $100 to $200
For $500 you get the deluxe full meal deal.
I hunted for two days and stayed in the lodge took 2 pigs for $200. I did not shoot a trophy I was too much of a tight wad to pay a $500 trophy fee

Don't know where Clover Creek is but Hay Creek may have them. All the hunting rights are leased to an outfitter in Prineville.

Here in Southern Oregon theres supposed to be a good population but you cant find them; I have tried a few times.

They are all on private and I havent found anyone who will say yep I got em come shoot em.

The latest population map of Oregon from the ODFW shows the pigs have spread quite a bit but finding them is another story

I know where a few are at in Central Oregon. I've seen em quite a few times. I've even hunted them. However, it was on a private ranch. And that is the key. If you are going to hunt feral swine you must have access to private land.

Getting that access is tough. A couple ranches have been mentioned on this thread. Hay Creek can be expensive. I'm not familiar with Clover Creek. The other big ranch is the R2 which does not allow hunting. All the other ranches are small (in comparison) and probably do not hold swine all the time. If you don't already know somebody that has swine on their land and will let you hunt, you might be outta luck in Central Oregon.

I've not hunted them in Oregon, but my take on it is that private property is easily the best route (if you can get permission) but as I understand it don't these buggers do most of their activities after dark? But, since they are an "invasive species" maybe you can hunt 'em then? Curious...

Estimates by ODFW are 1500 swine in 8 counties. I don't know what that breaks down to in square miles, but it is less than a needle in a hay stack.

Good luck.
