Default flounder at 16 puuls with a diver!

Crazy! We cught two nice big flounder near bouy 10 while salmon fishing. We were in 50 feet of water, about mid depth I figure. They hammered the herring rigs. Salmon fishign was slow, but the flattie fishing was better.
go figure!

This is the first year I have ever got flounder while salmon fishing. Last night I got 3 nice flounder in Winchester Bay while reeling my gear back to the boat. Seems odd?

Too cool. The flounder are thick in the estuary this year. On opening day and weekend of the B10 fishery we ended up actually fishing for them while we were waiting for the bar to calm down. We got tired of dragging herring so we anchored up and tossed out shrimp and chovies. We hammered those rascals and actually took a bunch for the freezer. They are kind of a pain to clean but they are good eatin with a little salt and pepper on the barbie

Sure would be nice if the flounder would make a come back in the bays and estuaries but I have my doubts with the current pinneped problems.

Used to be a great fishery on them before my time here I am told.

Have seen two come in Depoe Bay this year as the results of salmon trolling. Actually I think Brad might have caught this one while we were bottom fishing (Sunday 8/10).

Here it is if you didn't see it on the other thread.

The Columbia entrance used to be full of Starry Flounder, just let a herring to the bottom and you would have one. The fish went away, good to see some are returning.

Lots of bottom fish in the river too, if you know where to look.
