What a weekend!!!! Thanks Mel!
What a great weekend. The wife and I started it off with ifishstock. Nice to see so many people. Headed out early from the party and hooked up with Mel (Miss B Haven) at about 7:30pm. We spent the night on his boat. Fishbait showed up about 5 this morning and off we went. Crossed the bar about 6:30 or so and headed almost due west. At about 28 miles we dropped the gear. We were never able to get all the gear out at once. Ended up with 30 tuna by 11:30 this morning. Had to stop because we were out of cooler space and ice. The wife and I broke our tuna cherries today. What a thrill. On the way back in, we dropped the salmon gear. We limited on 8 coho in less than 45 minutes. The other two boats with us had the same luck.
The ocean and weather were great. The company was even better. Thanks again Mel. It was a trip that the wife and I will never forget.

Re: What a weekend!!!! Thanks Mel!
I second the GREAT trip report. Weather, seas, boat, skipper, company and fish all made for a wonderful day on the ocean. And I am no longer a tuna virgin! thanks to Mel and the tub of vac packed smelt I delevered to him this spring.
Couple of things:
Tuna does taste good when properly cared for and cooked right.
Anybody that says that a 20 lb tuna will outfight a 40 lb chinook never caught a bright 40 lb chinook.
Mel is a great skipper.
Brsgooter is a great guy, good fisherman and has a nice wife.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">I completely agree, Mel is a great skipper. BRShooter is one of the best people I know! And Gini is, too! All around, I'm very sorry I couldn't have crewed yesterday.

I've done both and I've never had a bright 40 lb. nook take 200 yds. of line in the first 20 seconds or rip a pole holder completely out of the boat(with pole still attached)!
We actually had a 30lb'er this weekend that took forever to get in. Everytime we'd get ready to net it......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......away he'd go!
