Default Prawns Under a Bobber.......

For spring chinook, prawns on a plunking rig or spinner seems to be the ticket.

Anyone have any luck with prawns under a bobber for springers?

How about prawns under a bobber for fall chinook?

I've experimented with prawns under a bobber, but no luck either with fall or spring chinook.

How about you?

They Don't work at all. The I have found that the springers like the raw/non cured tails better than the whole prawn. I like putting a prawn tail with some eggs I like the prwans better than sand shrimp....Ross

SKP,

The first year they opened Rivermill dam up on the Clack we fished prawns under a bobber and slayed the springers. It got so crowded up there the next year I never went back but I can tell you they worked very very well. I rigged them up straight with a double hook set up and drenched them in Mikes shrimp oil. Good luck!

I've heard of it but never had a takedown with one myself...switch that idea for a whole sandshrimp rigged head down and SLAM..bobberdown. Another bobber winner is eggs and sandshrimp.

The shrimp cocktail is hard to beat for springers whether you fish it behind a diver, under a bobber, or drift fish them. It also allows you to conserve your eggs if you are running low. The prawn might be a little more durable under a bobber and allow you to fish longer without rebaiting if you rig them right. Could be a good strategy to use them when the bite is off and you don't want to waste your good bait. Good luck!

I use the "Tillamook Cocktail" many times. I'm just wondering about prawns.
