Default Newport Salmon 8\\9

Launched at first light and headed West about 8 miles. Things started off pretty slow and ended that way. We got three coho and a chinook for a boat "L" but the fish were scattered. We got one jack that was released and 5 other fish on that didn't stick. Fishing at 6:10, off the water by 9:45. The water was good and thought about heading to the rock pile for some halibut but ended up calling it a day.

Green glow hootchie and coyote spoon got all the fish. Herring didn't get bit at all. The fish were cought between 8 and 40 pulls with no pattern whatsoever. The nook went 18 pounds and the ho's were between 9 and 12.

Hey Tacklebuster, it's not like it was a couple weeks ago is it? Less Coho action and the Nooks are hard to come by up on top.

We fished the Rock Pile on Friday and got a halibut right off the bat but it was an inch short. Fished the rest of the day but could only get Lings and Yellow Eye. Lots of big Lings. No Nooks this time. Trolled back in for Silvers and were doing pretty good at first but then crossed a long stretch with nothing. Pulled up the lines and headed in to about 200' of water, dropped back down and started to get fish again. Seemed like you had to either be on the Pile or in close.

Ended the day with one huge Ling, and two nice Silvers. Had a shark leave his toothy signature on one native Silver and then had to let the dying fish go. :depressed:

Headed to Astoria for the CR in the morning so I got to get to bed. Too tired to fish today.
