Default rough trigger/gunsmith reccomendation

I bought my father-in-law a new Ruger, m77- mk2 in 7mm rem mag for Christmas 2005. I've noticed the trigger is not very smooth and although he hasn't had it worked on I know it bothers him too. I would like to get some trigger work done on it (either new components or rework old). Any opions/experiences/recommendations on gunsmiths who do this kind of work.

Timney trigger and sear; Install yourself. It's easier than sharpening your lawn mower blades.Approx. $85

Like Scottishsetter said.

Sometimes a proper cleaning can make a difference.

Many factory triggers are adjustable and it doesn't take an expert to do it.

I took my M77 MKII and its 8lbs factory trigger to Rich's gun shop in Donald. 3.5lbs trigger now....amazing how it helped the grouping.

The Model 77 Mk II's have horrible factory triggers!

Geroge Meyer in Klamath Falls does a great job on them.

My .223 trigger was so hard to pull I was always checking my safety. \

Now set at 3lbs and VERY crisp.

If you are anywhere near Salem...Take it to Kevin Ridling as Ole's Gun Shop. Kevin's the best trigger man I have ever met. Ole's Gun Shop can be found on the web. Not sure of the phone number.

http://www.spearfishgunsmithing.com/...th_pricing.htm

I have been wanting to try this guy. His prices are pretty good for an accurizing package and trigger adjustment. With all the work he is going to do on the accurizing deal and trigger adjustment I bet the rifle shoots pretty good when you get it back.

Thanks for all the suggestions, sounds like this is a common problem.

Like mentioned above, I'd just replace it. It's the same money and then you have a quality adjustable after maket trigger.
