Default Is it just me?

I have been fortunate this winter to have given several hatchery brats the old rock shampoo and was wondering if anyone else has noticed a difference in how they taste this year. They seem to have a higher fat content and are moister after cooking than in years past. Do you think that is because of the better ocean conditions? More available feed in the ocean? Or am I just losing it? Please advise no offense will be taken. My wife even agrees, but then she always likes it when i'm the one cooking.

Maybe cooler waters producing more fat? Sounds logical to me

It is about time somebody pointed this out!

I am telling you, it is a CONSPIRACY!

Yep, that's it. See, the GOVERNMENT has been secretly feeding those hatchery fish extra portion super-value meal sizes of fish meal.

They start them early, in the rearing pens, often asking, "Fishies, would you like us to Super-Size that meal for you?"

Of course the little fishies can't resist, and soon they are running around in schools filled with out of shape, overweight juveniles.

They work their ways downstream, stripping streams and rivers of all nutrition. You think those trees are being brought down by Beaver? NO! They are being eaten by Pirhanna-like gangs of hatchery steelies. They do most of their work at night, where the common person can't see what havok they wreak.

The next thing you know, they are put into the estuaries where they get treated yet again with the economy sized portions because the GOVERNMENT is federally protecting those flying rats known as gulls. That's right, those fat-boy steelies are snarfing big-dog quantities of gulls up and making them a major portion of their meal plans. Curiously, they only seem to be intersted in the soft, fat-filled belly meat of the birds.

Then, after gorging themselves on herring and 'chovies for a couple of years, they are returning now to places that are known as "holding" ponds. Have you ever seen the TV remotes littering the bottoms of our rivers? They are there, and they go hand-in-hand with the tiny little Budweiser bottles there too. There are cable and internet hookups down there, and with flat screen technology, they are watching vidoes of "Finding Nemo" and watching ball games.

These fish are getting so fat and lazy that they can hardly fight anymore.

Then again, maybe you are just getting to be a better cook. Nevermind...
