Default NOAA screwed me up

I had a day I could have taken off yesterday...not much going on....and I really wanted to get out of Depoe for some Salmon in the 17ft Salmon Stryker but I screwed up and listened to the forecast which was calling for 4 and 4 increasing to small craft advisory winds in the afternoon. I thought maybe it would be better if I worked.
Then I come in today and my boss tells me that his buddy went out in a flat bottom duck boat and limited out in a couple hours on a flat ocean.
Oh well. Is there a way to get any better information (more up to date) than the forecast that I pick up on my VHF or read off of the NOAA site?

Welcome to the world of offshore fishing. The only real way to know is to GO.

Here's a link to some of the best weather sites. If you want real-time data then you'll want to look at the weather buoys. There is one on the Columbia and one at STonewall Banks(Rockpile) that will give you up-to-the-hour data.
