Default Liquid electrical tape??

Boaters world had some on sale so I picked up a can. I sealed the wire connectors with the stuff. Have any of you used the stuff. Does it work. Pro's and con's. After a season and half on the new boat I can tell that I am going to have to start taking care of things better. You have to love the salt I just cant get enough but I sure hate what it does to the boat. I am headed to port hardy tonight for a week of fishing So if I dont get back to you thanks in advance. Hell I dont even know If I will be able to work today My mind is not at work for sure.

Yea, I love the stuff...unless you put it on when it is hot out. It dries a little too quickly.

I use and recommend it,,,,also try Lanacote. Its great for any electrical connection thats exposed to a moist and salt environment. Comes in a small tub like cold cream, works great , but smells terrible. I think it is made from unrefined lanolin, so smells like a basque sheep herder.

All my connections are made using Anchor heatshrink crimp connectors with a coat of liquid electric tape over the entire thing. I have never had a failure or problem. An alternate would be to use a standard marine grade crimp connector with heatshrink tubing over it and liquid electric tape over everything for peace of mind.

The above especially rings true for connections that are going to be inaccessible or in a wet bilge.
