Default Floating the Willy for deer

I am one of those guys who got lucky and drew the tag w/o points, so did my son and we actually put in separately! I have some access to various property, the most successful of which I pressure myself to take a doe on since I don't want to take a possible buck away from my friends LOP tags. I have always been intrigued by the Willy thing. I used to hunt around the Luckiamute (on land) down near Albany but I'm closer to the Newberg area now. I have a 14' welded Klamath boat, is that sufficient? It's an over-sized (wider and deeper) car-topper. Right now, no motor so is rowing one-way okay? I do plan on getting a motor which I'm sure would make it more convenient but I don't know if I'll have it before I want to do this (by early December).

Aside from whether or not the boat is sufficient, I'm interested in put-in and take out points and any suggestions, especially safety related. I had almost planned on wearing my diving wet suit!

If you want to keep your info more private, don't hesitate to PM me.

Thanks,
Biederboat

Find the Willamette River Recreation Guide on the net. It shows all of the River's navigational hazards and tells you where you can and can not hunt.

Thanks, I do have that but didn't realized it had the nav hazards (hadn't looked at it in a while), I'll check it out.

Myself and GETBIT have done it twice. Wheatland ferry to Dayton is a pretty good haul,,,,with a motor. Read the Rec guide good first. Lots of rules. Good luck and PM me if you need a third tag to go with you. BH
