Default My adventures in Amateur Taxidermy

I managed to shoot my first Spring Turkey this past year with the help of Don Becker, and have been holding on until I was able to decide what I wanted to do with everything with regards to display. I finally figured it out this past week as I was perusing the craft aisle at Fred Meyer.

I put everything together and got it all set up, and thought I'd share with you all.

It consists of the fan feathers (the ones that were salvageable), the spur, the shotgun shell that took it, the beard, a picture of the animal and myself on site including the date and location taken, and all put together onto a display I can hang in my study.

That's a great looking presentation - very artistic. I like it.

Very nice! Seems to me you've included all the info anyone'd want about your bird.

That looks good Bulk. Here is a tip if you ever do another one: This will help keep the fan from warping when it dries. Thoroughly flesh all the meat and tissue away from and out of the quills and then spread the fan to the desired position. Mix up a batch of auto body bondo and spread over the quills. It will set up within minutes and your fan will be locked into postion.
Here is a picture of one I did a tutorial on a couple years ago.......

That's a really good idea Limb, thank you for the information. Hopefully there will be many more to have to process.
