Default Intro

I enjoy reading the posts on this site and have picked up some valuable info on this forum, so I decided to join. A little about me...I grew up in the Willamette Valley and have always enjoyed hunting and fishing. Growing up, I spent most my time fishing the McKenzie River and CO lakes in the Spring-Fall and chasing steel on the Siuslaw River during the winter. I've had some epic days on Davis in the late 90's and some unfogettable rainbows on the McKenzie in the evenings. I also enjoy bird hunting and have had numerous days in the marsh with the old man that still make me smile. These days I live a little further North and am beginning to explore river systems closer to my new home. I also recently became determined to catch steelhead on the fly. I've been flyfishing for trout since I was 10 or 11 and have been fishing for steelhead with gear for just as long. This winter I look foward to putting the two together and catching fish on the swing. It shouldn't be much longer until the time comes. Good luck to all.

Welcome! You should find lots of useful info on this site, even some from people who catch fish.

Welcome! I too have fond memories of Davis in the late 90's & early 2000's. If we get another wet winter, I'm gonna make sure to get there next year.

Sounds like you are from Eugene/Springfield. Me too. Welcome. There is definately better flyfishing for stel in the PDX area than in Lake Crek and the Siuslaw. Good luck.

Davis Lake. Yep my personal PR 27" bow. High water years fishing the channel at first break in the big freeze. It was only really good when the water was knee high up on the ledge. Those were the days...big fire needed to warm up after each fish, or sooner.

Born and raised in Springfield. I used to do good in the channel early in the season. My dad and I would pack the float tubes in as soon as the Hwy cleared. However, the best days I can remember for BIG fish were late fall stripping huge streamers toward the lava. Good times.
Yamhill county is home these days. So, I'm within an hour or so of a handful of rivers that will hopefully produce this winter. Just have to decide which rivers to focus on, which is a pretty good problem to have.

Thank you all for the welcoming.

The Nestucca is a good bet. Good luck.
